Needleless electrospinning of nanofibers: technology and applications

book
posted on 2013-01-01, 00:00 authored by Xungai Wang, Tong Lin
Electrospun nanofibres have enormous applications in areas as diverse as environment, healthcare, energy, electronics, defence and security. Existing needle based electrospinning technologies have either limited fibre productivity or poor ability to control the fibre quality. A key challenge has been in mass production of nanofibres with controlled fibre quality. This book will provide a detailed account of the latest developments in needleless electrospinning for mass production of electrospin nanofibres, and of the properties and applications of electrospun nanofibres. The book will cover the theories of needle and needleless based electrospinning technologies, needleless electrospinning setups, and different nozzle structures and the associated electric field profiles, fibre morphology and productivity, fibre collection, and the applications of electrospun nanofibres in various emerging areas.
