The uncertainty of renewable resources and absence of a grid-connected supply impacts on the frequency and voltage stability of a hybrid islanded power system (HIPS). The ancillary components such as dump loads and battery storages are applied to suppress the uncertainties. However, the ancillary components require substantial investment, operating costs, inefficiency, and the complexity of the system control. This paper proposes a control strategy for the economic operation and resiliency enhancement of a HIPS. In this control strategy, the diesel generators operate in both Motor/Generator modes through the new technology of the diesel engines. Also, the control of other components is developed for improving the performance of the HIPS. The aim of the proposed control strategy is to maximize renewable penetration and minimize investment of components, and fuel and operating costs. The several case studies are considered to investigate the proposed power management and control strategy.
