Leaving home is no longer one‐way, with many young adults returning home. This is often short‐term although little research exists around families’ experiences when offspring relaunch. This study addressed this gap through interviews with 10 young Australian adults who had returned to coresidence and their parents. Findings revealed the return had an expected duration. While the young adults were looking forward to moving out, their parents were more ambivalent, both about the relaunch and the need for offspring to return again. Overall, the relaunch appears to be as important as leaving home, for young adults and parents alike.
